I can only provide cost data, is that acceptable?

The first stage to ESOS compliance is to analyse your organisations total energy consumption. At this stage, organisations may struggle to find accurate consumption data. This is a particular problem if they only pay a service charge to their landlord.

ESOS regulations do allow units of costs in measuring energy consumption, but, only for the initial measurement of total energy consumption to identify areas of significant energy use.

ESOS requires that at least 90% of your organisations significant energy use must be subject to an energy audit. During this stage you must use ‘verifiable data.’

Examples are verifiable data include meter readings, utility bills, delivery notes, stock records/readings, AMR readings.
